Playing Favorites

You see a figure standing by a dense thicket motioning for you to come closer. This strange being offers you entrance into the Fae Realm. The veil between worlds is thin here in the Forest of the Fae. You cannot enter without permission and cannot leave without permission. Many have gone into these haunted woods and never returned.  You are desperate for their power, but the cost is to play their dangerous game.   You will journey into a shifting forest full of trickster spirits.

Playing Favorites is an exploration story crafting game based on the Carta system that can be played solo or with a friend.  Explore a haunted forest.  Make bargains with Fae.  Collect magical items and make it back out again. 

You need:

• One standard deck of playing cards (jokers removed)
• An open surface on which to play
• A six-sided die (referred to later as a “D6”)
• A marker to represent your character, such a coin or small figurine
• 10 Favor Tokens: small stones, beans, or poker chips
• (Recommended) A piece of paper and pencil to record your adventure

You will receive a 20 page digital playbook that includes suggestions for character creation, instructions for game play,  card prompts, and story examples.  The prompts and random exploration make each play through unique.
